A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day as a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and could go no farther. Then the man decided to help the butterfly, so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.

The butterfly then emerged easily, but it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that at any moment the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.

Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It was never able to fly. What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through our life without obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been, and we could never fly.

Luke 13:24a  Strive to enter in at the narrow gate:

Matt. 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow (difficult, confined, compressed) is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

I Peter 1:  6, Wherein ye greatly rejoice though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heavines through manifold temptations:   7,  That the trial of your faith being much more precious than gold that perisheth,  though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

Beautiful post Snowfire.

For me it gives even more reason to keep my eyes on Jesus rather and avoid fixation on any of the appearances of deformations of soul and mind and body!  God will be all in all in the end!  To look at a half finished work and despair is looking at a flightless butterfly that will be healed and given wings by Grace and Mercy Correction and Love in the end!  Alleluia!

Peace to you

A reminder to me : Even nothing ~ take not for granted. Neither good, nor bad, take not for granted. All is of God. All, everything. The measure of my own arrogance, or blindness, or lawlessness, is the measure I take anything, or any one, for granted....

That is really beautiful Snowfire,

I think that is exactly what God is doing in His elect now. He brings struggles into our lives and during these times, He knows that we will grow stronger and stronger. One day we will emerg, not as this poor weak butterfly, but like one that is full of glory and ready to fly.

Wow that's awesome. I'm going to keep that to share with some others when they find themselves struggling. Thank you for sharing that!

Snowfire,

That is such a good analogy, the Father is so exact in His purposes for us. Thanks for sharing.
